One of the hardest things about chemotherapy is losing your hair. But if you’re proactive, you can be in control of the situation by creating a halo wig using your own natural hair! Book an appointment before losing your hair to chemo!
Andrew DiSimone offers custom-made halos, or head coverings using your OWN hair before it falls out. The halo wig is easy to attach/detach, so you can just put it on like a hat and go. Our halo wigs are affordable and extend the life of your premium wig by alternating wears. They are comfortable, lightweight and, best of all, it’s your hair!
You can schedule a free hair cut with us before you lose your hair- usually 2 weeks from the first treatment or no later than 10 days after your first treatment. We will section off 1 ½″ ponytails, and cut the hair as close to the scalp as you let us, ensuring all hairs are facing the same direction to minimize tangling. The shorter you cut it, the more length you will have on the halo. Hair strands are then made into a straight line called “wefts of hair”, and sewn from temple to temple onto a comfortably-knitted cap that surrounds your head in a “U-shape”.
Creating a halo wig is labor-intensive and can take anywhere from 1-2 weeks. The cost is $1,000. If there’s not enough hair to make a halo, we can supplement hair for an additional $100 per 16” of hair. They are available in 19”, 21”, and 23” cap sizes, and can be straight, wavy or curly.
