Meet Andrew

Veteran hair stylist & creator of ADWigs™

Andrew Disimone created his hair salon HairPlaceNYC by bringing together the best hair stylists in New York and a full array of wigs and hair services – all under one roof. Through Andrew’s leadership, HairPlaceNYC has evolved into one of the hottest hair salons and hair loss centers in New York.

Andrew started his career cutting hair at Vidal Sassoon and assisted Louis Licari – the “King of Color” – where he perfected his eye for color. He also styled hair at Manhattan’s Fashion Week and London Academy, and worked extensively with fashion stylist guru Sam McKnight for Italian Vogue and Harpers Bazaar. After leaving the “mainstream salon scene,” Andrew started his own salon, DiSimone Studio for Hair, in the West Village. Looking to the future, he opened his first commercial space on 60th and Park Ave, where he met Catherine Murphy. Together they created FaceStation, which quickly became known for great hair, talented stylists and makeup classes, and has been featured in Ambush, Faking It and Inside Edition.

In 2013, Andrew rebranded the salon to it’s current name HairPlaceNYC, which also features his self-named brand of wigs, hair pieces and medical hair loss solutions. Located on the East Side, HairPlaceNYC is a down-to-earth salon with a mix of soothing warm tones, friendly and talented stylists and wonderful clients. Outside the salon, Andrew volunteers cutting and styling wigs at the American Cancer Society’s NYC Hope Lodge, and sponsors FreeWigsForKids.org. Andrew also enjoys teaching other hair salon owners how to run a successful salon.

“Doing great hair in the salon is fun, but nothing compares to the feeling I get seeing the smile on a women’s face getting a brand new wig after loosing her hair to a medical condition,” says Andrew.
